Over the past several years, millions of Americans have watched those in positions of power avoid consequences that everyday people would face.
Whether at the local, state, or federal level, trust in our institutions has been shaken by a growing sense that accountability is inconsistent ā or missing altogether.
This is not a partisan issue.
It is a fundamental expectation of any functioning system of justice.
No one should be above the law.
No one should be protected by status, influence, or political affiliation.
Today, most ethics investigations in Congress are handled internally ā by committees made up of other members of Congress.
Criminal cases are handled separately through federal law enforcement.
But there is currently no fully independent oversight body with the authority to investigate misconduct by public officials and ensure consistent accountability.
We cannot ignore what weāve seen, and we cannot move forward without restoring trust through real accountability.
We reject the distractions and division that pull us apart while this issue goes unaddressed.
We are calling for equal accountability ā from local offices to the highest levels of government ā and we demand:
⢠Independent, nonpartisan investigations conducted outside of Congress
⢠A permanent, independent oversight body with the authority to investigate misconduct by public officials
⢠Public transparency on the findings and outcomes of those investigations
⢠Consistent enforcement of the law, regardless of position or political affiliation
⢠Timely action and clear consequences for proven violations
Accountability cannot be selective.
Justice cannot depend on who you are.
We are gathering signatures to demonstrate a clear and growing public demand for equal accountability at every level of government.
As this movement grows, we will organize, communicate, and advocate to ensure these standards are upheld ā and to support leadership that is willing to meet them.
This is how accountability is restored: when the public is informed, organized, and unwilling to accept anything less.
⢠125,000 signatures - we are putting out a press release and we will be emailing you updates.
⢠250,000 signatures, we are sending it to every sitting member of congress.
⢠400,000 signatures, we are going to stand in front of the capital and pass them out to members of congress as they leave for the day. And we will bring the media.
